Mount Stong State Park Kelantan

Mt.Stong State Park (formerly called Jelawang Jungle) and is situated on the fringes of Malaysia’s massive Titiwangsa range. The Mt.Stong State Park is listed among the top five unique ecotourism destinations in Malaysia. It covers an area of 21,950 hectares of land dotted with high peaks, dense forest, a variety of caves, rivers and waterfalls.

Its thick jungle is home to elephants, tigers, bears, gibbons, hornbills and a range of other exotic wildlife, as well as a variety of flora and fauna including the world’s largest flower, the rafflesia of the kerii meyer species, and the endemic long-sectioned bamboo, a type of purple herb (Didymocarpus calcareous) and a unique palm species (Licuala stongesis).

With the assistance of a qualified and knowledgeable trekking guide, the journey uphill is made more meaningful. In good weather conditions, an experienced guide can take travelers along the scenic route of the waterfalls from the foot of Gunung Stong at least halfway before continuing inland for the rest of the hike up. This route showcases the waterfall cascading down from great heights along the solid granite rock structure, a breath-taking sight to behold.

Wat Pothivihan Kelantan

Kelantan is known as the 'Cradle of Malay Culture' and the state is predominantly Muslims. But look beyond and you can see hundreds of wats (temples) throughout the state. It shows how the local Muslims are ambivalent in their attitude towards Thai Buddhism.

Wat Phothivihan is a Thai Buddhist temple located in Tumpat, Kelantan, approximately 15km from Kota Bharu. The temple is one of 25 temples found in Tumpat, and is one of the most popular in the country. It is famous for housing the biggest reclining Buddha statue in Malaysia. This 40-meter sculpture was constructed in 1973, and was only completed in 1979. The construction cost of RM350,000 was derived from public donation as well as contributions from various Buddhist associations in Malaysia and Thailand.

The Reclining Buddha Complex consists of three main areas; the massive structure of the Reclining Buddha itself, 19 smaller structures of standing and sitting Buddha, and 800 cinerary jars placed in special columbarium situated underneath the Buddha structure.

Siti Khatijah Market Kelantan

Located in the heart of Kota Bharu,Siti Khadijah Market used to be known as Pasar Buluh Kubu. Unique in every sense, Pasar Besar Siti Khadijah is the most photographed market in the country.

Siti Khadijah Market is mainly dominated and ‘ruled’ by the womenfolk. It may surprise you that a majority of stalls are run by women. From the early hours of the morning till sundown, these market queens sit across-legged upon their raised wooden platforms, guarding their merchandise.

The sights, sounds, and colours are uniquely Kelantanese display garden produce, food stands grill delectable barbecued chicken and craftsmen offer traditional wares like Kelantanese silver rose bowls.

This is a 'must visit' destination in this town and the three-storey building houses hundreds of stalls that sell all kinds of fresh produce, traditional local delights, spices, sweets, batik, silver and bronze items as well as many other types of household products.
